Minutes of August 25, 2004 Meeting

The evening started with an invited presentation by Jim Nissen, USFWS, on the proposed dredging/restoration project on Lake Onalaska (the Brice Prairie Barrier Islands Protection Project). Following Jim's presentation, a lunch was served and the business meeting commenced at 8:45 p.m.

REPORTS:

The woodduck house construction activities are progessing well, with about one-half of the 100-house goal now met. Construction will continue on the first and third Wednesdays of the month during September (at the lodge, starting at 5:30 p.m.). Production reports are now due so that the 2004 report can be finalized.

John Wetzel suggested that a gun raffle during waterfowl season might be another way to raise money for the dredging/restoration project. Matter referred to the Board of Directors.

Big Buck/Big Doe contest is open. $5.00 to enter; two winners spilt the pot.

Marc Schultz submitted our name to the county as an interested party for the operation of the Oktoberfest parking lot as a fund-raising activity.

Leif Tolokken announced that the date and time for the fall river clean-up will be Sept. 8 (Wed.) at 5:30 p.m. Meet at the French Island/Spillway boat landing.

There being no further business at the moment, the meeting was adjourned.

Dick and Mary Hellerude will provide the lunch at the September meeting.
