Minutes of April 27, 2005 Meeting

Meeting was called to order and chaired by Leif Tolokken.

Dennis Woodall gave a special presentation on wild turkeys - calling and hunting.

Minutes of the March meeting were approved as distributed.

The treasurer's report was accepted.

Swamp White Oak Project: Tree planting will happen May 2, 8:00 a.m., Upper Landing.

Bike Trail Clean-Up: Recent clean-up yielded but one bag of trash; seven members participated.

Woodduck Nesting Project: We are running short on inventory of completed houses; work night scheduled for May 4.

Lake/River Clean-Up: Discussed.

Bluebird Nesting Project: BPCA will be receiving an "Achievement Award" from the North American Bluebird Society.

Purple Loosestrife Project: Work day was on April 23, with four participants, to collect plants for insectary. Doubled size of insectary so that more beetles can be raised from stock rather than buying adult critters.

La Crosse County Conservation Alliance: Brief report; current concern about the FWS Refuge Plan. (See Agenda below.)

BPCA Web Site: Fritz Funk was acknowledged and thanked for his continuing efforts to maintain our fantastic web site. (Check it out at www.briceprairieconservation.org.)

No further business; meeting adjourned.

Steve Anderson volunteered to bring lunch to the May meeting.
